It's important young people are recognised and rewarded when they give their best and achieve success at home, at school, and importantly, in the wider community. Unfortunately, due to headline grabbing news stories about a minority of young people, perceptions of all young people have become more negative. So now the Department of Children Schools and Families (DCSF) want to address this worrying trend and give young people a chance to demonstrate and celebrate their successes.
The DCSF have appointed a consortium to explore how best to re-focus public attention towards the positive contributions young people make. This initiative has initially been described as a ‘Youth Week’. We are looking at what kind of event or format is the most compelling and effective.
Thanks to all of you who responded to our survey. We have had over 1000 responses and will be sharing your views with the DCSF. Your ideas will feed into the development of a youth-led solution for tackling negative perceptions.
If you are aged 22 or under and have more ideas to share, join us for a one day creative session to explore ideas for this big and exciting new campaign.
